Chrome for Android M3 Expressive Redesign Overview
The Chrome for Android M3 Expressive Redesign, which started rolling out in late August, is now fully available. This update arrives a few weeks after most other Google apps received their own Material You refresh.
Improved Menu Layout
When you open the three-dot menu, you’ll notice that the forward, bookmark, download, site info, and refresh buttons now sit in circular containers at the top.
If you visit a saved page, the bookmark (star) icon switches to a rounded square background to make it stand out.

Enhanced Tab Grid Experience
In the Tab Grid view, the new tab “+” button is placed inside a rounded square with a Dynamic Color background.
The tab switcher, Incognito switch, and Groups button now each have their own rounded containers, making it easier to see which section you’re in.
Tab Groups also adopt your selected color theme for better visual separation.
Material 3 Expressive Touches
Chrome has also been testing a bit of Material 3 Expressive flair in the address bar.
Some users might see a segmented, rounded progress indicator when pages load, though this feature isn’t available to everyone yet.

Compact and Efficient Design
Despite the design update, Chrome hasn’t increased the size of its interface elements.
That means everything still feels compact compared to other recently updated Google apps.
It’s a subtle refresh rather than a full redesign.

Update Availability
The Chrome for Android M3 Expressive Redesign is rolling out via a server-side change with Chrome version 141 for Android.
If you haven’t received it yet, try force-stopping the app from your phone’s settings to trigger the update.
